Alzheimer's Program
Supportive and educational assistance for Alzheimer's patients, their families and long-term care providers.

Arthritis Program
Works to reduce the burden of arthritis on the people of Texas through secondary and tertiary prevention, including self-management programs and health communication strategies.

Brain Injury (Traumatic Brain Injury Program)
Educational programs, public policy initiatives, and supportive efforts to assist individuals with brain injury, their families and service providers.

Cancer Control Program
Educates the public about prevention and treatment of cancer and the benefits of early detection.

Cardiovascular Health & Wellness Program
Provides technical assistance, consultation, and training to health agencies/sites, work sites, schools, and communities at large to affect change for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Diabetes Council
Addresses issues affecting people with diabetes in Texas and advises the Texas Legislature on legislation that is needed to develop and maintain a statewide system of quality education services for all people with diabetes and the health care professionals who care for them.

Epilepsy Program
Provides comprehensive outpatient care (diagnostic, treatment and support services) to eligible persons who have been diagnosed with epilepsy and/or seizure-like symptoms through contracted service providers in selected service areas in Texas.

Family Planning in Texas
A resource page for the health needs of women and their families, including a family planning clinic locator, family violence prevention resources and links to state women's health initiatives.

Hansen's Disease Program
The mission of the program is to improve the understanding and control of Hansen's disease in order to achieve the eventual eradication of the condition and its complications from Texas.

Hemophilia Assistance Program
Provides limited financial assistance to persons (age 21 and older) who have been diagnosed with hemophilia and meet other program eligibility requirements for blood factor products through approved providers.

HIV/STD Prevention, Bureau of
Information on prevention and care in Texas. Find out about HIV/STD services in your area, access HIV/STD and AIDS statistics for Texas, or learn about eligibility requirements for the Texas HIV Medication Program.

Kidney Health Care
Goals of this program are to improve access to care for Texas residents with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), and to ease the financial burden of obtaining essential medical treatment for ESRD. KHC provides limited financial assistance to Texas residents with ESRD who have been approved to receive KHC benefits.

Mental Health Services
A directory resource that can help you find mental health services in your area, including adult mental health services, children's mental health services, and disaster mental health services.

Office for the Elimination of Health Disparities
Promotes and coordinates resources and initiatives to link communities and other Texas Department of State Health Services programs to appropriate cultural and linguistic health care information, training, and services to eliminate health disparities.

Oral Health Group
The program works to improve the oral health of school-aged Texans and reduce dental disease through preventive dental services.

Osteoporosis Program
Educates the public on the causes and risk factors for developing osteoporosis and the value of early detection and prevention.

Substance Abuse Services
Index for finding substance abuse related treatment, prevention, education and problem gambling.

Tuberculosis Elimination Division
The goal of the program is to prevent, control, and eliminate tuberculosis among the people of Texas.

A complete listing of all DSDH program areas.

Governor's Health Resources
A directory of state health agencies from the Office of the Governor.

DSDH Professional Licensing and Certification Unit
The 21 state regulatory boards and committees comprising the certification unit evaluate credentials, supervise continuing education activities and conduct complaint investigations for a wide number of health professions in Texas. The certification unit can likely inform you whether a health care provider is properly licensed or registered to do business in the state and may also be able to provide information about any prior disciplinary actions against a provider.

DSDH Health Facility Licensing & Compliance Division (HFLCD)
Surveys and regulates health care facilities which participate in the federal certification program and/or are regulated under state licensing statutes. The HFLCD Enforcement Program can provide information about the latest disciplinary and enforcement actions against many types of health care facilities.

DSDH Local Health Department Directory
State-participating local health departments, also known as public health districts, receive partial funding from the Texas Department of Health in return for providing certain public health services. The directory can help you find the local health department nearest you.

US Department of Agriculture Rural Health Issues Page
Provides information and links to many federally funded health programs for individuals living in rural areas.
